The Acting Master Class has moved from January to April 2022.

PROGRAM DETAILS

During this master class, students will learn acting skills for the stage and screen. Topics include monologue workshop, cold reading, stage acting, camera acting, and audition preparation. The program culminates with a final presentation of their work in front of a panel of professional directors including St. Louis Actors’ Studio Artistic Director William Roth.

MEET THE DIRECTOR

Wayne Salomon

Known as the Consigliere of the St. Louis Actors Studio, Wayne has directed The Zoo Story by Edward Albee, The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter, Farragut North by Beau Willimon, A Behanding in Spokane by Martin McDonagh, August: Osage County by Tracy Letts, Three Tall Women by Edward Albee, Ivanov by Anton Checkov, Art by Yasmina Reza, Closer by Patrick Marber and The Goat or Who is Syliva by Edward Albee. He was chair of the Theatre department at John Burroughs School for 25 years. Mr. Salomon has been a  member of the Actors’ Equity Association since 1978. He received training from the late Sonia Moore at the American Conservatory for the Stanislavski Theatre Arts in New York City. SEE FULL BIO!

Kari Ely

Award-winning Actress

Kari Ely became a full-time Equity and SAG-AFTRA actress in 1983 when she was hired by director and future cohort Wayne Salomon. Since then Kari has worked for virtually every professional company in St. Louis. Kari is a multiple Recipient and Nominee of both The Kevin Kline Awards and the Critics Circle Awards, and more.  Kari has taught adjunct at Washington University and SIUE, her alma mater. Peter Mayer

Award-winning Actor

Peter Mayer studied in the graduate acting program at Catholic University under Academy Award-winning actress Mercedes McCambridge. He toured with the National Players, performing various works of Shakespeare and Classical Greek theatre. He will be seen this summer in the crime noir feature thriller, All Gone Wrong. He has been nominated for two Kevin Kline Awards, two St. Louis Drama Critics Circle Awards, and was named the Riverfront Times’ Outstanding Actor of 2011 for his work in Arthur Miller’s The Price at Avalon Theatre. Sharon Hunter

Founder & Artistic Director of Moonstone Theatre Co.

Sharon Hunter is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Moonstone Theatre Company. She is the host, writer and producer of the arts and entertainment podcast, Moonstone Connections, currently streaming on Spotify, SoundCloud, and iTunes. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the St. Louis Theatre Community Task Force. Sharon is an Adjunct Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at Maryville University.
