Gary Bell
GARY F. BELL has acted, directed, and taught for theatre, film, and television in New York City, Europe, and, most recently, Saint Louis. After attending the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Bell joined the American Ensemble Studio Theatre where he trained extensively with its founder and artistic director Stanley Harrison. In 2000, Bell moved to Saint Louis and established Stray Dog Theatre, a professional theatre company based upon his most successful professional and life experiences. Recognizing that theatre has the capacity to move the human spirit of all participants, Bell has helped transform Stray Dog Theatre into a powerfully engaged, philanthropic community partner. As artistic director, he has assisted in creating numerous community arts programs including the Arts-In-Mind afterschool program, Arts-In-Reach summer camps, Silver Stage Senior Theatre, and the Stray Pups Youth Theatre.  A member of Actors’ Equity Association and the American Guild of Variety Artists, Bell is also an accomplished composer, lyricist, and playwright. Bell was recently bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate of Arts and Letters from the University of Missouri Saint Louis.
