Special Projects and Scholarships

Special Projects and Scholarships

While the annual programming of FoxPACF stays consistent, we are always exploring new and unique opportunities for the young people in our region to engage in the arts and live performance. These special projects and scholarships vary as the
needs and prospects present themselves in our community.

Our archive pages demonstrate the depth and breadth of this component of our programming.

Regional Summer Intensive Auditions Scholarships

The Regional Summer Intensive Audition (RSIA) Scholarship was awarded to students accepted in RSIA participating programs.  In 2017, FoxPACF awarded 13 scholarship to students attending summer intensives throughout the country.

Project Lion

In 2007, the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation granted tickets to the award winning Disney production of The Lion King. The recipients were from educational programs across the Saint Louis region. An extensive activity guide was distributed to educators to use with their students to enhance the educational impact of The Lion King. Participants received a Broadway cast recording of The Lion King, show lyrics and a study guide of African animals from the St. Louis Zoo.

This program explored an interdisciplinary approach to further the appreciation of the live event while using the production as a catalyst to spur additional research.

A few years later, in 2012, The Foundation engaged Storyteller/Author Lynn Rubright, Artist Diane Davenport, and Poet/Author Susan Grigsby to develop a special curriculum related to the story of The Lion King. Under the direction of FoxPACF Board member, Dr. Marlene Birkman, they implemented this week-long program twice with existing summer camps at New City School and COCA.   Students were immersed in the sights, sounds, music, and culture of Africa, learning of its many creatures and human inhabitants. The program culminated with all participants attending Disney’s The Lion King at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.

In 2017, the same teaching artists brought the program to the students of Maplewood Richmond Heights Elementary. They collaborated with the classroom instructors to integrate Project Lion material into the academic curriculum.

The St. Louis Cappies

The CAPPIES is a nation-wide High School Theater Critic and Award Program. The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation helped to establish this program in St. Louis in 2005.

By 2011, the St. Louis CAPPIES program was entirely under the direction of the St. Louis CAPPIES volunteer steering committee.

As of 2016 the program is currently on hiatus.

The CAPPIES were supported through grants from the FoxPACF and additionally supported by The Saint Louis Post Dispatch, Lindenwood University and The Muny. The Saint Louis Post Dispatch published leading high school critic theater reviews online at STLToday.com, Lindenwood University offered annual scholarships to all Saint Louis CAPPIES participants and The Muny subsidized annual gala costs.

St. Louis Performing Arts Night

The Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation produced and underwrote the St. Louis Performing Arts Night at The Fabulous Fox Theatre. This fantastic event celebrated our local schools by showcasing their performing arts programs live on the Fabulous Fox Theatre stage. This excellent opportunity exposed the St. Louis community to the fine work of young, talented students and their dedicated instructors.

The 8th Annual St. Louis Performing Arts Night was the final event in 2010.

60 x 60 Dance
